Grassland Fire Danger Index is LOW today. Showers and
thunderstorms are expected for today through early Wednesday
morning. Some of these storms may be strong to severe and will be
capable of producing frequent lightning, hail up to half dollars,
and wind gusts in excess of 50 mph.

Winds will be strong out of the east, sustained at 20-30 mph with
gusts 55+ mph. A Wind Advisory is in effect until 7 pm tonight.

Rain tapers off Wednesday, but winds remain gusty. Thursday brings
another chance for rain, but certainty is low at this time.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

The Grassland Fire Danger Index will reach the low category
this afternoon. Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture
content of grasses, and other dry organic material on the
ground, indicate that the probability of a fast moving fire is
low. Outdoor burning under these conditions can usually be
with reasonable safety precautions, but should be monitored.

OUTLOOK FOR WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON...The Grassland Fire Danger Index
will reach the low category.

The grassland fire danger product reflects fire danger for native
grasses. It is not intended for cured agricultural crops, nor
will it reflect conditions in road ditches which have been mowed.
