.DISCUSSION...

KEY MESSAGES:

1) Much colder than normal and decreasing winds will move in
tonight, and isolated snow showers will come to an end.

2) A warming trend over the weekend will lead to mostly
seasonable temperatures and periodic light rain chances next week.

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:

NE Montana remains on the southwest edge of a slowly departing upper
level low pressure system today, supplying enough cold air
advection and instability for isolated wind-driven snow showers.
The Lake Wind Advisory for Fort Peck Lake continues through 6pm
today as winds gust to 30 mph. Surface high pressure moves in
tonight allowing for winds to diminish and widespread lows in the
teens and lower 20s. The Lake Wind Advisory will then be allowed
to expire. A surface cold front will move through Sunday night,
so strong winds will come up again on Monday. There are low to
moderate rain chances expected with this front.

CONFIDENCE AND POTENTIAL DEVIATIONS FROM BASE FORECAST:

On Monday, there is low confidence in accumulating rain exceeding
one tenth of an inch along the MT/SK border. There is high
confidence for a warmer temperature trend after Monday.
