...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1989, thunderstorms caused horrendous flash flooding
in Northeast Texas and Southwest Arkansas.  Longview, TX
measured 14.16 inches of rain.Around 1 foot of rain
fell in Henderson, TX which caused a dam failure.
Estimated damage ranged from $10 million to $16 million.
No deaths or injuries were reported, however many people
who were stranded in trees needed to be rescued.  In
1935, Amarillo Texas was in the midst of a three and a
half day dust storm.  The dust storm was so severe that
during a six hour stretch, the visibility was near zero.

In 1921 Washington D.C.  experienced a sharp temperature
drop as an Arctic Front moved through.The mercury
free-fell from 85 to 26 degrees; ending a false spring.
