Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
340 PM CDT Sun May 12 2024

.DISCUSSION...

Stiff westerly winds out west around 15-20kts sustained have
brought very dry air in as well and near-critical to localized
critical conditions have developed. With today`s dry conditions,
ERCs have quickly responded to the 50th percentile. Beyond today,
critical humidity sets up each afternoon, mainly west of the Pecos
River, each afternoon this week. However light winds keep RFTIs
and fire concerns low. Outside of a few storm chances on Wednesday
and again on Thursday, dry conditions serve to cure fuels a bit
more each day.
