...WSR-88D Radar at Springfield Missouri Down for Maintenance...

The WSR-88D Doppler Radar at Springfield Missouri (KSGF) will be
brought down this morning for scheduled maintenance. The radar
should return to service on Thursday, March 15th.

This maintenance is a part of a service life extension project to
replace and refurbish components of WSR-88D radars. These radars
are currently around 20 years old with this maintenance expected
to keep radars operational into the 2030s. There are four major
phases to this project, with this week`s maintenance being the
first phase.
