***NWS Tucson KEMX WSR-88D Doppler Radar Outage (April
1st-14th,2024)***

Beginning Monday April 1st, 2024 at 0700am, the KEMX WSR-88D
Doppler Radar operated by NOAA`s National Weather Service in
Tucson, Arizona will be down for approximately two weeks for an
important upgrade.

Technicians will refurbish and replace the pedestal, one of the
most critical components of the radar which is necessary for
antenna rotation and positioning to capture data in all
directions. The components are extremely heavy and will require
the radome to be removed by crane and replaced when the work is
completed.

During the downtime, adjacent radars will be available including:
KIWA (Phoenix, AZ), KYUX (Yuma, AZ), KEPZ (El Paso, TX), KESX (Las
Vegas, NV) and KFSX (Flagstaff, AZ).
