...Cocke County added to the Tri-Cities Weather Radio Transmitter...

The National Weather Service Office in Morristown TN has added Cocke
County, TN to WXK-47, which broadcasts from Holston Mountain. Cocke
County is already on WXK-46, which broadcasts from Sharps Ridge in
Knoxville, and that will continue.

Residents of Cocke County are advised to check their reception of
both transmitters to determine which one gives them the strongest
signal.

WXK-46 in Knoxville broadcasts on 162.475 MHz, and can be heard on
channel 4 of most weather radios.

WXK-47 in the Tri-Cities broadcasts on 162.550 MHz, and can be heard
on channel 7 of most weather radios.

After the signal strength determination has been made please ensure
that the county code for Cocke County has been programmed into your
radio. The county code for Cocke County is 047029.

The Weather Radio alerting system is tested weekly, with the tests
normally conducted between 11 AM and noon each Wednesday. If there
is an an on-going weather event the test may be postponed to the
next available good weather day.
