Rating: EF2 Estimated Peak Wind: 115 mph Path Length /statute/: 3.06 miles Path Width /maximum/: 233 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 2 Start Date: 03/07/2026 Start Time: 03:09 AM CST Start Location: 5 NNW Jefferson / Marion County / TX Start Lat/Lon: 32.8345 / -94.3661 End Date: 03/07/2026 End Time: 03:14 AM CST End Location: 7 NNE Jefferson / Marion County / TX End Lat/Lon: 32.8595 / -94.3235 Survey Summary: Around 3:09am on March 7, 2026 a severe thunderstorm produced a tornado near the community of Prospect, Texas. The tornado initially touched down just west of HWY 59 where multiple snapped trunks of hardwood trees were noted. As the tornado quickly continued east, it heavily damaged several structures. A residential home west of the highway was damaged by a fallen tree. Next to the home, a barn was completely destroyed, with only the wooden frame remaining. Debris from the barn along with the barn s contents were strewn across the front yard and into the highway median and onto the northbound side of the highway. Just to the east of HWY 59, another residential home experienced significant damage after being moved feet away from its foundation. Several large hardwood trees were also uprooted and fell on top of a nearby shed. Just north of this home, another home experienced tornado damage. In the backyard of this home, a small shed was completely destroyed, with contents strewn across the yard, along with damage to vehicles. In this yard, a camper was tossed and rolled into another nearby shed, where several occupants were thrown about and injured. The tornado continued east/northeast, snapping and uprooting numerous trees before moving into additional residential areas on East Prospect Rd. Here, damage to several roofs were noted, and additional sheds and barns experienced significant damage, along with major hardwood tree snaps and downed powerlines. Thereafter, the tornado weakened as it moved northeast away from East Prospect Rd and crossed Scotts Bayou. Some tree damage was then found along Hall Road before the tornado then lifted as it moved as East CC Rd and toward the town of Lodi around 3:14am. && EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into the following categories: EF0.....65 to 85 mph EF1.....86 to 110 mph EF2.....111 to 135 mph EF3.....136 to 165 mph EF4.....166 to 200 mph EF5.....>200 mph NOTE: The information in this statement is preliminary and subject to change pending final review of the event and publication in NWS Storm Data. $$
