.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 239 AM EDT Sat Apr 20 2024

Weak cold front dropping through the lakes attm and will drive
another push of chilly air south today. Even with sunshine and
diurnal heating, temp recovery this aftn will be tempered with
highs for most locations sub 50 and wind chilly to boot as w/nw
winds gust 25 to 30.

Cold low level thermal trough tonight in conjunction with upstream
moisture likely to yield considerable stratocu through nw zones with
some moisture flux off lake Michigan likely. This throws a wrench
into otherwise slam dunk frost potential and general surrounding
consensus this morning was to punt headline decision to dayshift.
Nevertheless retained frost mention north through eastern zones as
clearing possible prior to sunrise Sun.

Thereafter brief moderation as ne CONUS height field temporarily
flattens ahead of another vigorous nrn stream wave digging through
the lakes Tue. Limited moisture return in advance of this sys offset
by good frontal dynamics looks to limit any thunder potential Tue
aftn/eve to isold at best with showers given. More erstwhile warmup
expected by dy7 (Fri) and beyond as sw flow deepens across the ern
US in response to potent longwave trough through the wrn US.

.AVIATION /12Z TAFS THROUGH 12Z SUNDAY/...
Issued at 636 AM EDT Sat Apr 20 2024

Very few changes were needed for this TAF cycle. Surface high
pressure settles in across the Midwest, keeping the area dry
through Monday. VFR conditions will prevail through the
entirety of the forecast period (and likely all the way through
Monday as well). Wind gusts between 20-25 kts will become more
common during the daytime today, especially between 12-18Z.
Winds diminish this evening and into early Sunday morning.
