Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Mobile AL
358 PM CDT Sat Apr 13 2024

...New NEAR TERM, SHORT TERM, LONG TERM, MARINE...

.NEAR TERM...
(Now through Sunday)
Issued at 358 PM CDT Sat Apr 13 2024

Pleasant conditions continue through the weekend as a dry
northwesterly flow persists aloft. High pressure at the surface
will maintain light winds through the period. Current satellite
imagery reveals mostly clear and sunny skies this afternoon with
a weak sea- breeze gradually lifting inland. Temperatures tonight
will be rather chilly with lows ranging from the lower and middle
50s over interior areas to the upper 50s near the coast.
Temperatures will warm right back into the lower and middle 80s by
Sunday afternoon with plenty of sunshine expected.

Light, patchy fog cannot be ruled out late tonight generally
north of I-10 and south of Highway 84, but confidence in this
potential remains low at this time. /14

SHORT AND LONG TERM...
(Sunday night through Friday)
Issued at 358 PM CDT Sat Apr 13 2024

A mostly dry and warm forecast is expected through Friday. Upper
level ridging will continue to influence the area through Tuesday
night before shifting eastward and out over the western Atlantic.
A more zonal flow pattern becomes established in the upper levels during
the middle of the week as a trough passes north of the region and
a weak front approaches the area. The only chances for rain and
maybe a thunderstorm will be Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday
evening and again Friday as very weak shortwaves slide eastward
over the area. Any showers or storms that develop are expected to
remain confined to interior southeast Mississippi and interior
southwest/south central Alabama. Temperatures will gradually warm
through the period with temperatures likely reaching into the
middle and upper 80s on Thursday. Overnight lows will also
gradually warm with temperatures going from the lower and middle
50s Sunday night to the lower and middle 60s by Tuesday and
Wednesday nights. A moderate rip current risk will return on
Tuesday followed by a high rip current risk on Wednesday as
persistent southerly flow sets up on the immediate coast. /14

.MARINE...
Issued at 358 PM CDT Sat Apr 13 2024

No significant impacts are expected over the marine area. A light
to occasionally moderate onshore flow will persist into the early
part of next week. A moderate onshore flow becomes established
during the middle part of the weak along with building seas up to
3-5 feet before relaxing late in the week. /14
