Area Forecast Discussion...DELAYED
National Weather Service Shreveport LA
515 AM CDT Sat Apr 13 2024

...New SHORT TERM, LONG TERM...

.SHORT TERM...
(Saturday through Sunday)
Issued at 409 AM CDT Sat Apr 13 2024

Quiet and near normal conditions will continue through the rest
of the weekend across the Four State Region. This is due to
surface ridging gradually transiting eastward across the area and
approaching the Mississippi River valley by this afternoon,
allowing for some southerly winds to return. As a result,
temperature maximums and minimums will remain in the upper
70s/lower 80s and 50s respectively. /16/

.LONG TERM...
(Sunday Night through Saturday)
Issued at 409 AM CDT Sat Apr 13 2024

Chances for active weather return to the Four State Region early
next week before warning trends continue. This is due to robust
troughing that makes its way across the Intermountain West, re-
emerging across the southern Great Plains and creating a more
significant severe weather threat across Central Oklahoma. The
attendant frontal boundary will create a chance of thunderstorms
(some likely severe as we enter a SPC slight risk for Day 4-5)
for the area by Monday continuing into Tuesday. After mid-week,
temperatures will approach the upper 80s once again with robust
southerly winds through most of the period. /16/

.AVIATION...
(06Z TAFS)
Issued at 1217 AM CDT Sat Apr 13 2024

South winds to increase across the region today as surface high
pressure shifts east of the region. Expect wind speed values to
increase to 10 to 15 knots with higher gusts after 13/15Z. Winds
to diminish to 5 to 10 knots after 14/00Z. Otherwise, VFR cirrus
ceilings possible across most of the TAF sites later today. /05/
