...New 00Z Aviation Discussion...

.SHORT TERM...
(This afternoon through Saturday)
Issued at 254 PM EDT Fri May 10 2024

A cold front is presently making its way SE thru the area. Along and
ahead of the front, partly to mostly cloudy skies prevail, with
generally mostly sunny skies N of the front. Enough instability
remains across the S to support shower development late this
afternoon into the early evening hours. Isolated thunderstorms are
also possible, but uncertainty is high. Nevertheless, once daytime
heating cuts off, clouds should continue to thin. Thicker clouds
across TN may make it just S of the border, but skies should stay
partly cloudy. Low temperatures Saturday morning are forecast to
range from the mid 40s across the NE mountains to near 60 in the
extreme SE. These values are only about 1 to 4 degrees below
normal...a sign of just how warm it`s been lately. Gusty NW will
drop off considerable early this evening.

Cooler and noticeably drier conditions are on tap for Saturday.
Daytime highs will range from the upper 60s in the NE mountains to
near 80 across the extreme S. Afternoon humidity values will drop to
near 35 percent. Slight warmer lows are forecast for Sunday morning,
but still near to slightly below normal.

.LONG TERM...
(Sunday morning through next Thursday)
Issued at 254 PM EDT Fri May 10 2024

Highlights:

-Dry and slightly cooler conditions continue through Sunday.

-Unsettled weather returns late Monday with periods of rainfall
expected through the work week.

Drier weather will be short lived as we return to a more unsettled
weather pattern through much of next week as several rounds of rain
are possible. Surface high pressure and ridging across portions of
the Southeast will result in continued drier weather through Sunday.
Riding will slide eastward through the day Monday in response to a
developing low pressure system and attendant shortwave near the Four
Corners Region. Thus rain chances do start to creep back into the
forecast area late Monday continuing through Tuesday as this system
tracks eastward. The second round of rainfall looks to occur
Thursday into Friday as another shortwave swings through the region.
At this time, the better opportunities for wetting rain and
potentially some thunderstorms will be on Tuesday and again Thursday
into Friday.

Temperatures through the long term period will generally be near
normal though forecast high temperatures to start off may be
slightly below normal. Forecast high temperatures will largely be in
the 70s/low 80s with overnight lows in the 50s/60s.
