Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Flagstaff AZ
924 PM MST Mon Apr 15 2024

.SYNOPSIS...Warm, dry weather is set to return for the rest of
the week. Expect breezy afternoons and mostly sunny skies through
the forecast period.

&&

.UPDATE...Clouds have begun to dissipate with the area expected
to remain dry overnight. Winds have also subsided this evening
after gusty northwest to west winds earlier today. Each afternoon
this week looks to be above average temperatures, and in typical
springtime fashion, dry and breezy. No significant updates to the
forecast were made this evening.

&&

.PREV DISCUSSION /430 PM MST/...An upper level low is spinning
just north of the Four Corners early this afternoon bringing a
cool and breezy day to the area, with little in the way of
precipitation. Moisture is very limited and mostly remains to our
north, but better saturation near the Utah border will yield
isolated to scattered showers there this afternoon. Most of this
will stay north of a Grand Canyon to Window Rock line with little
to accumulation expected. Elsewhere, breezy west to northwest
winds are settling in around 25 to 35 mph, with a few gusts
reaching 40 mph across eastern Arizona. Thanks to the passage of
the low, today will be the coldest day of the week with
temperatures remaining 5 to 8 degrees below normal.

A quieter weather pattern is in store the rest of this week with
significantly warmer temperatures. Expect temps to warm about 10
degrees tomorrow (Tuesday) and then a few more degrees through
the end of the week. The typical spring winds are here to stay as
an active pattern across the norther tier of the U.S. keeps
pressure gradients tight enough to generate 25 to 35 mph wind
gusts each day. No significant changes in the pattern are expected
into next weekend. Enjoy the warmth!
