At 1135 PM HST, radar indicated heavy rain and thunderstorms over the South Kohala District extending from Kamuela to Kawaihae. Rain was falling at a rate of up to 3 inches per hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. This band of thunderstorms should continue to drift northward over the next few hours and move into the North Kohala and Hamakua districts soon. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads, properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road closures possible in some areas. Landslides are possible in steep terrain. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Waikoloa Village, Kamuela, Puako, Kawaihae, Puuanahulu, Kohala Ranch, Pohakuloa Camp, Pohakuloa Training Area, Waikii, Mauna Lani and Waikoloa Beach. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
