Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior
National Weather Service Marquette MI
928 PM EDT Thu May 2 2024

For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior.

Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the
highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the
average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.SYNOPSIS...A 29.7 inch low pressure in the Upper Mississippi
Valley will drag a 29.8 inch trough across Lake Superior tonight
before wandering northeast over Ontario and deepening to 29.6
inches on Friday. A weak 30.0 inch trough pivots across the lake
on Saturday ahead of ridging that builds to 30.1 inches by
Saturday evening; this ridging persists through Sunday. Ridging
shifts east early next week as a broad 29.2 inch low pressure
develops on the Northern Plains on Monday. A strong pressure
gradient over western Lake Superior begins to setup Tuesday
morning as the 29.2 inch low center pushes eastward against 30.0
inch ridging over far northern Ontario.
