APRIL BEGAN WITH MANY COOL DAYS WITH RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS. ALTHOUGH
A FEW BRIEF WARMER DAYS OCCURRED, THE COOL AND SHOWERY ONES WERE
MORE FREQUENT. IN FACT, SNOW WAS OBSERVED AT AUGUSTA ON 7 OUT OF 8
DAYS FROM APRIL 3 THROUGH 10. BUT THE PATTERN SHIFTED FOR THE MIDDLE
OF APRIL AS WARMER WEATHER ARRIVED. THE TEMPERATURE SOARED ALL THE
WAY TO 70 DEGREES ON APRIL 13. COOL AND SHOWERY WEATHER RETURNED TO
END THE MONTH, THOUGH. THE HEAVIEST RAIN FELL ON THE 26TH AND 27TH
WHEN 1.67 INCHES WAS MEASURED. THE FREQUENT RAINY WEATHER IS WHAT
WAS MOST MEMORABLE ABOUT THIS APRIL. MEASURABLE PRECIPITATION WAS
RECORDED ON 17 DAYS THIS MONTH WITH ANOTHER 4 RECORDING A TRACE.

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 43.4 DEGREES WHICH WAS 0.5
DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. THE COOLEST APRIL WAS IN 1967 WHEN THE AVERAGE
TEMPERATURE WAS 40.1 DEGREES. THE WARMEST WAS 48.9 DEGREES IN 2010.

A TOTAL OF 4.20 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION FELL WHICH WAS 0.41 INCHES
ABOVE NORMAL. THIS MARKED THE 4TH OUT OF THE LAST 5 YEARS WITH ABOVE
NORMAL RAINFALL IN APRIL. THE WETTEST APRIL WAS IN 2005 WHEN 9.06
INCHES OF PRECIPITATION WAS MEASURED. THE DRIEST WAS IN 1999 WITH
ONLY 0.33 INCHES.

THE FOLLOWING RECORDS WERE SET OR TIED IN APRIL 2019...
