APRIL BEGAN WITH MOSTLY COOL DAYS WITH RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS,
BRIEFLY INTERRUPTED BY A FEW WARM DAYS NEAR 60 DEGREES. SNOW WAS
OBSERVED ON 5 DAYS IN THE FIRST PART OF APRIL, WITH THE ONLY
MEASURABLE SNOW COMING ON APRIL 8 AND 9 WHEN 3.8 INCHES WAS
MEASURED. THE SNOW STUCK AROUND FOR A FEW DAYS BEFORE THE WEATHER
PATTERN SHIFTED TOWARD WARMER TEMPERATURES FOR THE MIDDLE OF THE
MONTH. THE TEMPERATURE TOPPED 70 DEGREES TWICE DURING THIS PERIOD,
ON THE 13TH AND AGAIN ON THE 19TH. BUT THEN IT TURNED COOL AND
SHOWERY AGAIN TO END THE MONTH. RAIN WAS OBSERVED ON 9 OUT OF 10
DAYS FROM THE 18TH THRU THE 27TH, WITH THE HEAVIEST RAIN FALLING ON
THE 26TH AND 27TH WHEN MORE THAN 2 INCHES WAS RECORDED. ALTHOUGH THE
AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS ABOVE NORMAL, THE MONTH WAS
REMEMBERED FOR THE FREQUENT CLOUDY, COOL, AND WET DAYS.

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 44.7 DEGREES WHICH WAS 0.7
DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THE WARMEST APRIL WAS IN 2010 WHEN THE AVERAGE
TEMPERATURE WAS 48.8 DEGREES. THE COOLEST WAS IN 1943 WHEN IT WAS
38.4 DEGREES.

A TOTAL OF 5.19 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION FELL WHICH WAS 0.87 INCHES
ABOVE NORMAL. THIS MARKED THE 4TH OUT OF THE LAST 5 YEARS WITH MORE
THAN 5 INCHES OF RAIN IN APRIL. THE HEAVIEST PRECIPITATION FELL ON
THE 26TH AND 27TH WHEN 2.07 INCHES OF RAIN FELL. THE WETTEST APRIL
WAS IN 1973 WHEN 9.90 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION FELL. THE DRIEST WAS
IN 1999 WHEN ONLY 0.28 INCHES WAS RECORDED.

MEASURABLE PRECIPITATION FELL ON 17 DAYS IN APRIL, MORE THAN HALF OF
THE DAYS IN THE MONTH. WHILE THIS DID NOT BREAK THE RECORD OF 19
DAYS SET IN 1933, IT WAS THE MOST IN 40 YEARS AND RANKS AS THE 6TH
MOST ON RECORD FOR APRIL. THE FOLLOWING TABLE LISTS THE MOST RAINY
DAYS IN APRIL.

MOST APRIL DAYS WITH 0.01 INCH OR MORE OF PRECIPITATION (SINCE 1871)...

A TOTAL OF 3.8 INCHES OF SNOW FELL WHICH WAS 1.0 INCHES ABOVE
NORMAL. ALL OF THIS SNOW FELL ON THE 8TH AND 9TH. SNOWFALL IN APRIL
IS USUALLY HIT OR MISS. THE SNOWIEST APRIL WAS IN 1906 WHEN 20.5
INCHES WAS RECORDED. THERE HAVE BEEN 10 APRILS IN WHICH NO SNOW
FELL, MOST RECENTLY IN 2009. THERE HAVE BEEN AN ADDITIONAL 29 APRILS
WHICH RECORDED ONLY A TRACE OF SNOWFALL, MOST RECENTLY IN 2012.

THE FOLLOWING RECORDS WERE SET OR TIED IN APRIL 2019...
