.SHORT TERM...
Issued 300 AM CDT Sat Apr 20 2024

Today through Sunday:

Temperatures this morning have fallen into the low to mid 30s in
many locations, with the coldest readings along and west of
I-90. Clouds have mostly cleared for the time, but are expected
to build back into the area today as cyclonic flow persist.
Forecast soundings indicate that cloud depth may be just enough
to squeeze out a few sprinkles this afternoon. Highs will be in
the mid to upper 40s.

Temperatures tonight will again fall to around freezing, with
clearing skies and lower winds compared to the current overnight
period. Another freeze warning is likely to be issued later
today, likely with some areal expansion eastward compared to the
current warning.

Less cloud cover is expected for Sunday, along with neutral to
warm temperature advection, despite continued northwest winds.
This will help boost highs into the upper 50s and low 60s.

.LONG TERM...
Issued 300 AM CDT Sat Apr 20 2024

Sunday night through Friday:

Warm advection is expected Monday, ahead of a compact upper low
diving southeastward from the Canadian Prairies into the
Dakotas, with highs reaching the 60s. Rain chances will
increase into the 60-80 percent range ahead of this feature
Monday evening and night. After a brief break on Tuesday,
additional precipitation is expected Tuesday night and early
Wednesday (70 percent chance), as an associated cold front
sweeps through the area.

High pressure will then build into the area, which will set the
stage for a cold night Wednesday night into Thursday morning,
when temperatures could drop into the 20s in some areas.

Temperatures will warm again for the end of the week and into
next weekend, along with renewed chances for showers and
thunderstorms.

Gusty west to northwest winds will gradually weaken today,
though will remain breezy. Another stratocu deck is likely to

.MARINE...
Issued 300 AM CDT Sat Apr 20 2024

High pressure over the central US and deepening low pressure
across northern Quebec will maintain west winds over Lake
Michigan today. Winds will gradually decrease in intensity
through the day today, with lighter winds continuing into Sunday
as high pressure approaches from the west. Light and variable
winds will then occur with the passage of the high Sunday night.
Breezy south winds will then develop for Monday into Tuesday as
low pressure approaches the northern Great Lakes from Canada.
Winds could approach gale force during this time.
