Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior
National Weather Service Marquette MI
353 PM EDT Thu May 2 2024

For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior.

Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the
highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the
average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.SYNOPSIS... A 29.7 inch low pressure is tracking across the
Upper Mississippi Valley. The low drags 29.8 inch troughing across
Lake Superior tonight before wondering northeast over Ontario and
deepening to 29.6 inches on Friday. A weak 30.0 inch trough
pivots across the lake on Saturday ahead of ridging that builds to
30.1 inches by Saturday evening; this ridging persists through
Sunday. Ridging shifts east early next week as a broad 29.2 inch
low pressure develops on the Northern Plains on Monday. A strong
pressure gradient over western Lake Superior begins to setup
Tuesday morning as the 29.2 inch low center pushes eastward
against 30 inch ridging over far northern Ontario.
