.DISCUSSION...
(Today through Monday)
Issued at 300 AM CDT Tue Mar 26 2024

Skies are cloudy across much of the Mid-South early this morning
with temperatures ranging from the mid 50s to lower 60s. An area
of showers is slowly moving east across northeast Mississippi. The
rain is ahead of a cold front which currently extends from
southern Iowa through central Arkansas and into southern
Louisiana.

The cold front will move through the Mid-South later this morning
and move into middle Tennessee and western Alabama by this
afternoon with the showers currently in northeast Mississippi
exiting the region ahead of the front. Cooler and drier air will
start to move into the region this afternoon. Temperatures will be
cooler today with highs in the mid 50s to lower 70s.

High pressure will start building into the region with dry and
cooler weather expected for tonight. Temperatures will be on the
chilly side for late March with lows Wednesday morning in the mid
30s to lower 40s. Dry weather and below normal temperatures will
continue for Wednesday through Thursday night.

By Friday, winds will shift to the south as high pressure moves to
the east of the region. This will allow warmer air to move into
the Mid-South and bring temperatures back above normal. Dry
weather is expected to continue through Sunday. A frontal boundary
will stall out to the north of the Mid-South for Sunday night and
Monday. A few thunderstorms nay develop ahead of the front and
reach northern sections of the region for late Sunday night and
into Monday.
