Rangeland Fire Danger Statement

.DISCUSSION...Mostly cloudy skies are expected today with a chance
of rain showers across southern South Dakota. Winds will be
breezy out of the south. Cloudy conditions will slowly dissipate
overnight, with drier and warmer conditions expected on Sunday.

...MODERATE FIRE DANGER...

The grassland fire danger index will reach the moderate category
this afternoon. Marginal weather conditions or a lowering
moisture content of grasses, and other dry organic material on
the ground, indicate that there is some potential for a fire
occurrence. Do not leave outdoor fires unattended under these
conditions.

The outlook for Sunday afternoon, The grassland fire danger index
will reach the low category to moderate category.

afternoon. Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture
content of grasses, and other dry organic material on the ground,
indicate that the probability of a fire occurrence is low.
Outdoor burning under these conditions can usually be performed
with reasonable safety precautions.

The outlook for Sunday afternoon, The grassland fire danger index
will reach the low category to moderate category.
