This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for east central Florida.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

.THUNDERSTORM IMPACT...
Fast moving showers and isolated thunderstorms will move toward
the northeast at 30 to 40 mph.

.HIGH WIND IMPACT...
Sustained southwest winds 15 to 25 mph will gust up to 35 mph.

.EXCESSIVE HEAT IMPACT...
The combination of hot temperatures and high dewpoints will
produce heat indices 102 to 108.

.RIP CURRENT AND SURF IMPACT...
A High risk of rip currents exists at the Atlantic beaches of
central Florida. Entering the surf is not advised.

.WIND AND SEA IMPACT...
A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for the Atlantic coastal
waters. Winds and seas will decrease this afternoon.

.RIVER FLOOD IMPACT...
The Saint Johns River at Astor is forecast to remain in minor
flood through early next week.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.
Hot temperatures this weekend are forecast to produce peak heat
indices of 104 to 108 on Saturday. High coverage of showers and
lightning storms persists into this weekend.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
Spotter activation will not be needed today and tonight.

...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Florida...

  St Johns River Near Astor affecting Volusia and Lake Counties.

.Due to the lack of rainfall over the Saint Johns Basin from
Hurricane Helene, river levels at Astor are presently forecast to
very slowly decline through Minor Flood Stage through early next
week.

For the St. Johns River...including Astor...Minor flooding is
forecast.

The next statement will be issued this evening at 1000 PM EDT.

...FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE...

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...St Johns River near Astor.

* WHEN...Until further notice.

* IMPACTS...At 2.8 feet, Docks and boat ramps covered at South Moon
  Fish Camp and approaching sea wall at Blair`s Jungle Den. Water
  approaching sites closest to the river at Fish Tales RV Resort and
  Astor Landing Campground. Portion of Clair Street covered by river
  water south of the Butler Boat Ramp. Docks underwater at the Astor
  Bridge Marina and along Riveredge Drive. Portions of Fox Road are
  covered with water nearest to the river. Acorn, Hazelnut and
  Redbud roads are underwater with yards inundated.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 9:30 AM EDT Friday the stage was 2.6 feet.
  - Bankfull stage is 2.0 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
    ending at 9:30 AM EDT Friday was 2.9 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to remain steady above flood
    stage at 2.6 feet.
  - Flood stage is 2.3 feet.

* WHAT...For the High Rip Current Risk, dangerous rip currents.
  For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves of 6 to 8
  feet in the surf zone this morning.

* WHERE...Coastal Volusia, Indian River, Saint Lucie, Martin,
  and Brevard Counties.

* WHEN...For the High Rip Current Risk, through this evening. For
  the High Surf Advisory, until 11 AM EDT this morning.

* IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and
  localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best
  swimmers away from shore into deeper water.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

High surf will affect the beaches in the advisory area, producing
localized beach erosion and dangerous swimming conditions.
Swimmers should remain out of the water due to large breaking
waves and dangerous surf conditions.

Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away
from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in the
sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as jetties and
piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards, beach patrol flags and
signs.

Entering the surf is strongly discouraged. If caught in a rip
current, relax and float. Don`t swim against the current. If
able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to
escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
