This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of southern
Illinois, southwest Indiana, western Kentucky, and southeast
Missouri.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Prolonged heavy rain is expected today through tonight. 2 to 4
inches of rainfall is expected over the region with localized
higher amounts. Some flooding issues will be possible, especially
where 4 inches or more of rain falls. The Flood Watch has been
expanded to now include most of the Quad State region. Refer to
the Flood Watch for more information.

North to northeast winds may gust up to 40 to 50 mph at times
today, with gusts to 55 mph possible in the Evansville Tri-State
and the I-64 corridor. Waterlogged soils from heavy rain can
result in trees becoming more susceptible to wind damage. Refer to
the Wind Advisory for more information.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday

Showers and breezy winds linger through the day Saturday with
impacts diminishing through the day.

...WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM CDT  /8 AM EDT/
FRIDAY TO 1 AM CDT  /2 AM EDT/ SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Northeast winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts of 40 to 50
  mph are expected. Gusts to 55 mph are possible in the Evansville
  Tri-State region or along the I-64 corridor in Southern
  Illinois.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana,
  western Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...From 7 AM CDT /8 AM EDT/ Friday to 1 AM CDT /2 AM EDT/
  Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree
  limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
  Heavy rainfall may result in waterlogged soils making trees more
  susceptible to wind damage.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
  possible.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, including the following
  areas, Alexander, Gallatin, Hardin, Johnson, Massac, Pope,
  Pulaski, Saline, Union and Williamson, western Kentucky, including
  the following areas, Ballard, Caldwell, Calloway, Carlisle,
  Christian, Crittenden, Daviess, Fulton, Graves, Henderson,
  Hickman, Hopkins, Livingston, Lyon, Marshall, McCracken, McLean,
  Muhlenberg, Todd, Trigg, Union KY and Webster, and southeast
  Missouri, including the following areas, Mississippi, New Madrid,
  Scott and Stoddard.

* WHEN...Through Saturday morning.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
  creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - The remnants of Hurricane Helene are expected to bring
    widespread heavy rainfall to much of the area. A Flood Watch
    remains in effect for western Kentucky, portions of Southern
    Illinois, and portions of southeast Missouri where forecast
    rainfall ranges from 3 to 5 inches. Locally higher amounts
    are possible.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
