A few strong to severe thunderstorms may develop across northeast and east central KS during the afternoon hours. The primary hazard would be strong wind gusts of 50 to 60 MPH and small hail. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday. ...FLOOD ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 AM CDT EARLY THIS MORNING...
* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall continues.
* WHERE...Portions of east central and northeast Kansas, including
the following counties, in east central Kansas, Geary. In
northeast Kansas, Pottawatomie and Riley.
* WHEN...Until 500 AM CDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 332 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream
flooding. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Manhattan, Junction City, Ogden, Grandview Plaza, Milford,
Keats and Milford Lake.
- This includes Interstate 70 between mile markers 295 and 304.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
