This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of Puerto Rico.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

.Lightning...Isolated to scattered thunderstorms possible across
the west and mountain areas. Be aware of thunderstorms in your
area and be prepared to take shelter.

.Excessive Rainfall...Flooding of urban areas, roads, small
streams, and washes. Isolated flash floods possible.

.Excessive Heat...Heat index 112-114 degrees across the urban and
coastal areas of northern PR. Heat index 108-111 degrees across
the rest of the urban and coastal areas. Heat exhaustion or heat
stroke likely with prolonged exposure.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday

Local effects, the available tropical moisture and sea breeze
variations will promote a limited to elevated flooding risk
everyday. Hot and muggy conditions will persist for most days of
the week.

Spotter activation is encouraged. Please relay any information
about flooding, winds, waves, and rip currents to the National
Weather Service in San Juan.

...EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THIS MORNING TO 6 PM
AST WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values of 112
  degrees Fahrenheit or more are expected.

* WHERE...North Central, Northwest, and San Juan and Vicinity
  Counties.

* WHEN...From 10 AM this morning to 6 PM AST Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
  extreme heat and high humidity events.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.
