...A strong thunderstorm will impact portions of southeastern Denton,
southwestern Collin and northern Dallas Counties through 145 PM
CDT...

At 1259 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Farmers Branch, moving east at 30 mph.

HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph and penny size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Dallas, Plano, Garland, Irving, Grand Prairie, Mesquite, Carrollton,
Richardson, Lewisville, Allen, Rowlett, Wylie, Coppell, The Colony,
Farmers Branch, University Park, Sachse, Addison, Highland Park, and
Murphy.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 35E between mile markers 429 and 451.
 Interstate 30 between mile markers 48 and 64.

...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 345 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive
  rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of north central Texas, including the following
  counties, Collin, Denton and Wise.

* WHEN...Until 345 PM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
  Water over roadways.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This
    will likely cause urban and small stream flooding. Low lying
    and/or poor drainage areas will experience minor flooding in
    the advisory area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have
    fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are
    possible.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano, Garland, McKinney, Carrollton,
    Frisco, Denton, Richardson, Lewisville, Allen, Flower Mound,
    Grapevine, Wylie, Coppell, The Colony, Southlake, Sachse,
    Corinth and Highland Village.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected mainly north of I-20 and east of
I-35 through this afternoon. A storm or two may be strong to severe.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday.

There is a chance of storms Sunday and Monday, mainly in the late
afternoon and evening. Additional thunderstorm chances will arrive
late Thursday with a weak cold front.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Denton Creek near Justin.

* WHEN...Until late tonight.

* IMPACTS...At 10.0 feet, Minor out of bank flooding will occur to
  farm and ranch lands near the creek.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 8:00 AM CDT Saturday the stage was 11.7 feet.
  - Bankfull stage is 10.0 feet.
  - Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
    late this afternoon and continue falling to 4.4 feet Thursday
    morning.
