Hot temperatures in the 90s combined with high afternoon relative humidity values will lead to heat index values around 105 degrees this afternoon. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday. Periods of showers and thunderstorms may be possible each afternoon and evening through the workweek into the weekend. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Angelina River Near Lufkin affecting Nacogdoches, Cherokee and
Angelina Counties.
For the Angelina River...including Alto, Lufkin...Minor flooding is
forecast.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Do not drive cars through flooded areas.
Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.
