PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Hot and very humid conditions this afternoon will result in heat index values of 105 to 109 across portions of Central and East Texas. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday. Hot and very humid conditions will persist on Memorial Day with heat index values topping 105 across portions of Central Texas. Storm chances may return Monday evening as cold front pushes through the region. Any storms that develop, primarily near and west of the I-35 corridor, may quickly become severe. The coverage of storms will likely be isolated, so most will not be impacted. However, any storm that exists will be capable of producing large hail, damaging winds, and possibly a tornado.
