...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT CDT TONIGHT
FOR EASTERN HARDIN, SOUTHEASTERN JASPER, SOUTHWESTERN NEWTON AND
NORTHWESTERN ORANGE COUNTIES...
At 1026 PM CDT, Doppler radar earlier indicated thunderstorms
produced heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches
of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.1 inches
are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Beaumont, Lumberton, Silsbee, Kountze, Evadale, Buna, Pine Forest,
Lakeview, Weiss Bluff, Gist, Wrights Settlement and Devils Pocket.
While rain has ended across the warned area, flash flooding will
continue for the next couple hours.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.

* WHEN...Until early tomorrow afternoon.
* IMPACTS...At 17.0 feet, Minor flooding expected with the boat
ramps at Evadale possibly becoming inaccessible. Flooding can be
expected in the low-lying areas of the Lakeview community in
Orange County.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 9:00 PM CDT Wednesday the stage was 17.0 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 17.0
feet just after midnight tonight.
- Flood stage is 17.0 feet.

- At 9:15 PM CDT Wednesday the stage was 4.3 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 9:15 PM CDT Wednesday was 4.6 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 4.4
feet just after midnight tonight. It will then fall below
flood stage early Friday afternoon.
- Flood stage is 4.0 feet.

have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 0.5 to 1 inch in 1
hour. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the
warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.
