The National Weather Service in Fairbanks has issued a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect from 11 AM to 11 PM AKDT Tuesday. * AFFECTED AREA...Upper Koyukuk Valley, Dalton Highway Summits, Yukon Flats and White Mountains and High Terrain South of the Yukon River. * TIMING...From 11 AM to 11 PM AKDT Tuesday. * WINDS...East 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. * HUMIDITY...As low as 19 percent. * TEMPERATURES...Highs around 85 to 90. * IMPACTS...Rapid ignition, growth and spread of fires will be possible. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Red Flag Warning means that conditions are occurring or will occur which could lead to the development of large and dangerous fires. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances as vehicle interiors can reach extreme temperatures in as little as 10 minutes. Take extra precautions when working in the sun. Wear sunscreen and lightweight, loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Close curtains during the daytime to reduce sun insolation into the home and open windows at night to allow the home to cool off. Utilize fans or community buildings with air conditioning. && $$
