RISK...Limited. AREA...Eastern Oklahoma and Western Arkansas. ONSET...Ongoing. DISCUSSION... Dangerous heat and humidity will continue into early evening, with heat index values improving toward sunset. The hot weather is also contributing to localized fire weather concerns, along with the persistent drought conditions. Late this afternoon and continuing into the evening, thunderstorms will develop along a slow moving cold front as it moves into northeast Oklahoma. A few storms may produce locally damaging winds through mid evening, with decreasing intensity thereafter. Additional storms are expected to develop through the overnight across mainly northeast Oklahoma, with a lower risk for severe weather. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT... Temperatures will trend warmer through the weekend with unseasonably hot weather quickly returning and likely persisting through next week.
