Ongoing showers and thunderstorms across northwest Arkansas will continue to move east and exit the area this afternoon. In the wake of this activity clouds will clear across eastern Oklahoma allowing temperatures to warm to near 90 degrees. The combination of hot temperatures and humidity will cause heat index values to rise into the 100 to 105 degree range this afternoon. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT... EXTENDED DISCUSSION... Hot and breezy conditions are expected through much of the week. Afternoon heat indices of 100 to 110 are expected each day with increasing heat impacts. A weak cold front will move through late Thursday, with thunderstorm chances returning at the same time.
