DISCUSSION...
Heat stress remains the primary weather impact through early this
evening with widespread heat index values of 105 to 110 degrees
across much of eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas. The lower
Arkansas River Valley in west-central Arkansas will continue to
see very dangerous heat with ambient temperatures near 105 degrees
and heat index values topping 110. Isolated afternoon
thunderstorms have also developed across western Arkansas and
southeastern Oklahoma this afternoon. Storms will continue
through early evening with a threat for locally strong, gusty
winds. Rainfall amounts will remain light. Precipitation
diminishes after sunset.

EXTENDED DISCUSSION...
Dangerous heat index values will continue daily through the upcoming
week. Heat advisories will likely be needed for portions of the
region at least through midweek, if not longer. Isolated
thunderstorms will remain possible Sunday and Monday afternoon
with locally strong and gusty winds possible with any storms that
develop. Additional low thunderstorm chances return by late next
week as a weak cold front approaches the area. Uncertainty remains
high with the eventual southward progression of the front but it
will be a feature to monitor for the late week forecast.
