...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT NOW IN EFFECT FROM THIS EVENING
THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON...

* HAZARDS...Surf 3 to 6 feet across Ventura County Beaches and
exposed west facing beaches of Southern Santa Barbara County.
There will be local sets to 7 feet near the Ventura Pier with
high risk of strong rip currents.

* IMPACTS...Dangerous rip currents and breaking waves are
expected due to elevated surf due to long period swells. High
temperatures are expected to be unseasonably warm in the 80s
to lower 90s along the beaches, which should bring more people
than usual to the beaches this weekend.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Beach Hazards Statement is issued when threats such as rip
currents...longshore currents...sneaker waves and other hazards
create life-threatening conditions in the surf zone. Swim near a
lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don`t
swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following
the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or
wave for help.
