...HEAT WAVE THIS WEEK...

.High pressure will strengthen aloft, bringing an extended period
of very hot weather except at the immediate coast and at the
highest elevations of the mountains. The peak of the heat is
expected on Tuesday and Wednesday. Nights will be quite warm as
well, especially near the foothills of the mountains and in the
deserts. Toward the end of next week into next weekend, the high
pressure will weaken slightly and shift northward. This will
bring a cooling trend with a return of monsoonal moisture.

...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM MONDAY TO 8 PM PDT
THURSDAY...

* Temperature...High temperatures during the peak of the heat on
  Tuesday and Wednesday will in the upper 80s to mid 90s near
  higher coastal terrain and inland from the coast.

* Impacts...A period of hot days and warm nights is expected to
  create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are
  likely.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Heat Advisory means that a hot period is expected, which will
create a situation in which heat illnesses are likely. Drink
plenty of fluids...frequent air-conditioned spaces...stay out of
the midday sun...and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Young children and pets should never be left unattended in
vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during
warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal
temperatures in a matter of minutes.

...HIGH SURF ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM MONDAY TO 9 PM PDT
WEDNESDAY...

The National Weather Service in San Diego has issued a High Surf
Advisory...which is in effect from 8 AM Monday to 9 PM PDT
Wednesday.

* Waves...A building southerly swell will produce surf of 5 to 8
  feet Monday through Wednesday on southwest facing beaches of
  Orange and northern San Diego County. The surf will be a little
  lower in southern San Diego County.

* Tides...High tides will be between 5.5 and 6 feet each evening.

* Impacts...This southerly swell will produce strong rip currents
  and dangerous swimming conditions for inexperienced swimmers.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area...producing localized beach erosion and
dangerous swimming conditions.
