Winter Storm Warning

URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...Hazardous Mountain Travel this Sunday...

.A winter storm is expected to bring hazardous winter driving
conditions to the Northern Sierra Nevada and mountains of western
Plumas County on Sunday. The heaviest snow is expected Sunday
afternoon and evening. Weekend travel through the mountains is
encouraged before Sunday morning if possible. Snow levels will
start around pass levels and drop to between 4000 and 5000 feet
Sunday night. Conditions are expected to improve on Monday as the
storm winds down.

...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM SUNDAY TO 4 AM PST
MONDAY ABOVE 6000 FEET...

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Travel will be very difficult to
  impossible. Tree branches could fall as well. Total snow
  accumulations of one to two feet, with localized amounts over
  high mountain peaks up to three feet, are expected.

* WHERE...Western Plumas County/Lassen Park and West Slope
  Northern Sierra Nevada including Interstate 80 over Donner
  Pass, Highway 50 over Echo Summit and Highway 88 over Carson
  Pass.

* WHEN...9 AM Sunday to 4 AM Monday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Significant reductions in visibility are
  possible as snow combines with winds gusting to 30 mph.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Warning for snow means there will be snow covered
roads and limited visibilities. Travel is not recommended while
the warning is in effect. If you must travel, keep an extra
flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an
emergency.The latest road conditions for the state you are
calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.
