A cold front will pass through the forecast area from north to south overnight Thursday that will bring cooler temperatures and a chance for snow showers to the mountains and foothills. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will be possible each afternoon. Warmer and drier conditions will develop at the beginning of next week as ridging builds in across the western CONUS. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... ...FLOOD ADVISORY FOR A DAM FLOODGATE RELEASE OPERATIONS IN EFFECT
FROM 9 AM UNTIL 3 PM MDT THIS AFTERNOON...
* WHAT...Minor Flooding caused by upstream dam release operations is
expected.
* WHERE...A portion of northeast Colorado, including the following
counties, west central Arapahoe and southwestern Denver.
* WHEN...From 900 AM Until 300 PM MDT Wednesday.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying areas including the bike
paths along Cherry Creek.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 629 AM MDT, an upstream sediment flushing operations is
expected to cause minor flooding in the advisory area. The
operations will start around 9 am and last until 2 pm with
the water taking an estimated 6 hours to reach the Champa
bridge downstream.
- Some locations that may experience flooding include...
Denver along Cherry Creek.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Stay away from the creek the release operations may cause minor
flooding of low-level crossing and access points including bike
paths.
