...HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 7 PM
MDT SUNDAY...

* WHAT...North winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 70 mph possible.
  The strongest winds will generally east of a line from eastern El
  Paso county to La Junta to Springfield.

* WHERE...Portions of east central and southeast Colorado.

* WHEN...From midnight tonight to 7 PM MDT Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines.
  Power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially
  for high profile vehicles traveling on east-west roadways.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Areas of blowing dust could reduce visibility
  to under a mile at times.  Be especially careful near recently
  plowed lands or locations with disturbed soils.  Visibility can
  change rapidly over short distances.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and
avoid windows. Watch for falling debris and tree limbs. Use caution
if you must drive.

This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of central...east
central...south central and southeast Colorado.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Critical fire weather conditions, along with strong, gusty winds,
are expected across the majority of our area today and into
tonight. Over the plains, winds will be around 25 to 35 mph, with
gusts of 50 mph or more. Over the mountains, wind gusts could
exceed 70 mph at times. Conditions will be favorable for rapid
fire growth and intensification.

Later tonight, light snow will fall over the peaks of the central
mountains. Combined with the ongoing winds, blowing snow is
expected to reduce visibility and cause dangerous travel
conditions.


.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday

Strong winds will continue across the area on Sunday, along with
critical fire weather conditions over the San Luis Valley.

Warm and dry conditions are expected to return to the area on
Tuesday.
