Scattered thunderstorms are expected across the area this afternoon. A few of these storms may become strong to severe, capable of producing damaging wind gusts, small hail, frequent lightning, and locally heavy rainfall. A Heat Advisory is in effect for portions of central and east Georgia until 8 PM EDT for heat index values between 105 to 108 degrees. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday... Hot and humid conditions will persist through the weekend, with heat indices in the triple digits each day. Another Heat Advisory will be in effect for central and much of north Georgia from noon to 8 PM EDT on Friday. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected each afternoon through the week. Locally heavy rainfall and gusty winds will be primary storm threats. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation is not requested but spotters are encouraged to submit reports of severe weather through the web by going to weather.gov/atlanta.
