...Very Strong West Wind Gusts This Afternoon...

A strong cold front will bring a short period of very strong west
winds this afternoon, with a few gusts over 50 mph possible. In
addition, temperatures will fall to the 20s with a few snow
showers possible, resulting in brief low visibility under 1 mile.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of north central
Illinois...northwest Illinois...west central Illinois...east
central Iowa...northeast Iowa...southeast Iowa and northeast
Missouri.

.DAY ONE...THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT

Afternoon west wind gusts over 50 mph are expected this afternoon
as a strong cold front arrives. This peak wind period will be
brief and last less than 2 hours.

Scattered snow showers will be seen across the area
this afternoon and evening. Brief visibility reductions under 1
mile and winds gusting up to 35 mph will be possible with the snow
showers. There is a 30 percent chance of snow squalls occurring.

Northwest winds up to 30 mph will be seen across the area tonight
with wind chills dropping below zero.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY

There is a potential for dangerous cold Sunday night into Monday
morning. Wind chills of 20 to 25 below zero are possible along
and north of Interstate 80.
