The combination of light snowfall and strong, gusty winds potentially up to 55 mph may result in brief, significant visibility reductions. A Wind Advisory has been issued for areas along and south of Highway 30 through 9 AM. A Winter Weather Advisory, north of Highway 30, will continue through 9 AM this morning due to the threat for light snow accumulations under one inch and blowing/drifting snow is possible, especially in open and rural areas. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY There is a chance for accumulating snow Thursday night and again Saturday. There is potential for a few inches of new snow with each round. Windy conditions are expected Friday into Friday night as arctic cold moves into the Midwest. Wind chills will approach and may exceed 20 below zero across portions of the area Friday night and especially Saturday night. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Total snow accumulations under one inch. West to northwest winds 20 to 30 mph, gusting 40 to 50 mph. Gusts up to 55 mph are possible across portions of eastern Iowa. * WHERE...Portions of northwest Illinois and east central and northeast Iowa. * WHEN...Until 9 AM CST this morning. * IMPACTS...Roadways may become slick and hazardous. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday morning commute. Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects, including holiday decorations. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving.
