Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Use caution while traveling outside. Strong northwest winds are expected tonight behind an arctic cold front. Gusts up to 45 mph are anticipated through about midnight, with isolated higher gusts possible over portions of eastern Iowa. It will stay windy through the night with gusts between 30 to 40 mph continuing into early Monday morning. Scattered snow showers may accompany the strong winds, resulting in sudden and localized visibility reductions to under 1 mile. Additionally, blowing and drifting snow is possible where there is currently shallow snow cover, mainly north of Interstate 80. Accumulations will range from a dusting up to 1 inch. Winds gusting up to 40 mph will be seen across the area tonight which will create drifting snow and patchy blowing snow. Roads tonight may become partially covered with snow. Dangerous cold will be seen late tonight with wind chills of 15 to 30 below zero. A cold weather advisory is in effect for the entire area. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY Winds gusting up to 35 mph and dangerous cold will be seen across the area on Monday. Wind chills of 15 to 30 below zero will be seen during the morning hours.
