This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of central Iowa.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for the area tonight through
Sunday. Please refer to the National Weather Service website at
weather.gov/desmoines for further details.

Scattered thunderstorms are possible throughout much of today and
into Sunday morning. A few storms may be strong to severe late
this afternoon and evening... especially west and southwest.
Damaging winds and large hail are the primary threats with any
storms that may become strong to severe. A brief spin-up tornado
or two...though not likely...cannot be ruled out at this time.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for the area through Sunday.
Please refer to the National Weather Service website at
weather.gov/desmoines for further details.

Non-severe thunderstorms are possible Sunday morning through
Sunday afternoon.

Periodic thunderstorms are forecast Tuesday through Friday. A few
storms may be at least strong on Friday. The potential for the
severe weather will be refined in the coming days.


.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation may be needed late this afternoon and
evening...especially west and southwest. Rainfall and or
flooding reports are always appreciated.

...Flash Flood Potential Tonight Through Sunday...

.Moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast with showers and storms
expected to continue and strengthen across southern to
southeastern Iowa tonight through Sunday. If several rounds of
storms move over the same area, flash flooding could occur across
this part of the state.

...FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING
THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of south central Iowa, southeast Iowa, and southwest
  Iowa, including the following areas, in south central Iowa,
  Appanoose, Clarke, Decatur, Lucas, Mahaska, Marion, Monroe,
  Ringgold, and Wayne. In southeast Iowa, Davis and Wapello. In
  southwest Iowa, Taylor.

* From 7 PM CDT this evening through Sunday evening

* Rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches with locally higher amounts
  possible. Rain rates may approach 2 inches per hour at times.

* Ponding of water on roadways along with quick rises on local
  creeks and streams can be expected. Low water crossings may
  become impassable.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
