Illinois...northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana.

Weather hazards expected...

  Significant Excessive Cold Risk.
  Limited Snow Risk far NE Porter County.

DISCUSSION...

Dangerously cold conditions will occur today, with wind chills
ranging from 20 to 40 below this morning. The coldest conditions
will occur north and west of I-55.

Lake effect snow showers are expected across parts of far
northeast Porter County which will lead to slippery conditions and
reduced visibilities.

Extensive ice cover on area rivers may cause localized ice jam
flooding.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.

Saturday...
  Elevated Excessive Cold Risk.
  Elevated Snow Risk late in the afternoon and at night.
Sunday...
  Limited Excessive Cold Risk.

DISCUSSION...

Bitterly cold conditions will continue through Saturday.

Accumulating snow is likely late Saturday into Sunday,
especially southeast of a Peru to Waukegan line. Several inches
of fluffy snow will likely lead to hazardous travel conditions.

Extensive ice cover on area rivers may cause localized ice jam
flooding.

  of 30 to 40 below zero expected. For the Cold Weather Advisory,
  bitterly cold wind chills of 15 to 30 below zero expected.

* WHERE...Portions of central, north central, and northeast Illinois.

* WHEN...For the Extreme Cold Warning, until noon CST today. For the
  Cold Weather Advisory, from noon today to 9 AM CST Saturday.

* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite
  on exposed skin in as few as 10 minutes.
