A Heat Advisory remains in effect into early this evening. A line of storms is expected to develop or move into portions of eastern Iowa and far northwest Illinois, roughly along and northwest of a line from Washington, Iowa to Freeport, Illinois late this afternoon and evening before weakening. A few storms may become severe with damaging winds the primary threat. Heavy rainfall and localized flooding is also possible. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY Heat may continue to be at dangerous levels for portions of the area through Wednesday. An active pattern will lead to near daily chances for showers and storms through at least Friday. There may also be a risk for some severe weather and heavy rainfall at times. Any repeated rounds of heavy rainfall could lead to a risk for flooding. The Cedar, Iowa and Wapsipinicon rivers in eastern Iowa are especially susceptible to flooding due to ongoing high water levels from recent heavy rain in the headwaters. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation may be needed for portions of eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois late this afternoon and evening. $$

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
