There is a chance for severe storms, especially this evening. All hazards will be possible, but the primary concern will be damaging winds and embedded brief tornadoes in southeast Iowa. Very heavy rainfall and flash flooding will also be a primary concern, especially where storms move repeatedly affect the same area. Significant flash flooding is possible tonight, in urban areas and in counties that saw excessive amounts of rain last night. Several area rivers will be on the rise and have the potential to reach bankfull or even flood stage over the weekend and into early next week. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY More episodes of thunderstorms are expected over the weekend, mainly at night and into the mornings, though there is uncertainty on area and coverage with each successive round. Flash flooding will continue to be a concern, especially Saturday night into Sunday morning if storms move across areas already soaked from Friday`s storms. Isolated to scattered damaging wind threats will continue through Saturday night, depending on how organized storms become. Between the episodes of storms, high heat and humidity may produce dangerous Heat Index readings over 100 degrees Saturday afternoon. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... ...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING...
* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.
* WHERE...Portions of Illinois, including the following areas,
Bureau, Carroll, Henry IL, Putnam, Rock Island and Whiteside and
Iowa, including the following areas, Benton, Buchanan, Cedar,
Clinton, Delaware, Dubuque, Iowa, Jackson, Johnson, Jones, Linn,
Muscatine and Scott.
* WHEN...Through Saturday morning.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur
in poor drainage and urban areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Rounds of rain with embedded thunderstorms will occur across the
area through Saturday morning with peak hourly rates between 1 to
2 inches from the strongest storms. Rainfall totals will vary
considerably across the watch area. The hardest hit areas south
of I-80 could receive 3 to 5 inches of rainfall with isolated
higher amounts possible. Flash flooding is a risk with an
increased probability of river and creek flooding.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
