...EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT
SATURDAY...

* TEMPERATURE...Highs in the 90s daily, with heat index reaching
100 to 105 this afternoon and 105 to 115 degrees from Thursday
through Saturday during the afternoons. Heat indices will still
approach 105 degrees on Sunday afternoon especially southeast of
  the IL river.

* IMPACTS...The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during
outdoor exertion or extended exposure. The very young, the
elderly, those without air conditioning, and those participating
in strenuous outdoor activities will be the most susceptible.
Vehicle interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of
minutes. Never leave pets, children or the elderly unattended in
parked vehicles. The extended period of high heat and humidity
will worsen the effects of heat stress.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

An Excessive Heat Warning means that a prolonged period of
dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot
temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a DANGEROUS
SITUATION in which heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of
water, wear light weight and loose fitting clothing, stay in an
air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on
relatives and neighbors. When possible, reschedule strenuous
activities to the early morning or evening hours.

Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded
location. Heat stroke is an emergency, call 9 1 1.
