Please refer to the Heat Advisory and Extreme Heat Warning for details. Scattered thunderstorms could impact the Evansville Tri State this evening through tonight. Torrential rain, lightning, and gusty winds can be expected with the storms. A Flood Watch is in effect tonight for the Interstate 64 corridor through Illinois and Indiana. Please refer to the Flood Watch for details. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are expected Monday and Tuesday mainly east of the Mississippi River. Torrential rainfall, lightning, and gusty winds can be expected with the storms. The Flood Watch along the Interstate 64 corridor continues through the day Monday. The heatwave with daily heat indices of at least 105 degrees will continue uninterrupted over southeast Missouri through the work week and possibly into next weekend. Please refer to the Heat Advisory and Extreme Heat Warning for details. Elsewhere, the heat and humidity will continue in the absence of thunderstorms. At this time, Wednesday is the only dry day for the entire Quad State. In Kentucky, McCracken County. In Missouri, Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Perry MO, and Wayne MO Counties. * WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
