This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of southern
Illinois, southwest Indiana, western Kentucky, and southeast
Missouri.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

A Heat Advisory is in effect today south I-64 for heat indices
between 105 to 109. Refer to the statement for more details.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening.
Isolated strong to severe storms are possible with localized
damaging winds being the main concern. All storms will be capable
of producing brief torrential rainfall and lightning. Localized
flash flooding is possible.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday

Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are expected through Tuesday.
All storms will be capable of producing brief torrential rainfall
and lightning. Localized flash flooding is possible.

A dangerous prolonged heatwave will begin this weekend and
continue through most of next week. Daily heat indices of 105 to
115 are expected.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Formal spotter activation is not anticipated but spotters are
encouraged to report significant weather according to standard
operating procedures.

EVENING...

* WHAT...Heat index values between 105 to 109 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
  Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...From noon today to 7 PM CDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon may
  provide some relief.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.
