This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of eastern and
central Missouri as well as west central and southwest Illinois.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for the St. Louis Metropolitan
Area. Heat index values of 105 to 110 degrees are likely from early
afternoon through early evening.

A Heat Advisory is in effect for the remainder of the area. Heat
index values in excess of 100 degrees are likely from early
afternoon into early evening.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday.

An Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect for the St. Louis
Metropolitan Area until 9 PM Tuesday evening.

A Heat Advisory is in effect for the remainder of the area until
9 PM Tuesday evening.

There is a chance of thunderstorms from Tuesday through Sunday.

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 102.

* WHERE...Portions of south central, southwest, and west central
  Illinois and central, east central, northeast, and southeast
  Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 9 PM CDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and
pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any
circumstances. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time
outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early
morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion
and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when
possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest
breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by
heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is
an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
